Our Mission

To reduce death and disability
providing leadership and coordination
the EMS community
assessing, planning, developing, and promoting
comprehensive, evidence-based

medical services and 9-1-1 systems.

NHTSA has supported the development

of comprehensive Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems

for more than 40 years.

When injuries occur as a result of motor vehicle crashes,

EMS provides the best "last chance" to reduce death and disability.

An efficient EMS system is key

to ensuring prompt care for any type of medical emergency.
