This publication describes the Safe Communities model and its utility in helping communities identify and solve their motor vehicle injury problems. The brochure describes the benefits of the Safe Communities model and provides examples of successful outcomes in several communities. Safe Communities Getting Started Manual (working title) The Safe Communities Getting Started Manual provides information about the steps community leaders can take to share initial concerns about the motor vehicle injury problem, begin to more fully examine the problem and engage the community in a sustained effort to address identified problems. The manual focuses on calling the first meeting and the following six months during which a community begins to get organized and form a coalition. MCH Agencies: Traffic Safety Partners (Fact Sheet Packet)
