How To Obtain Additional Information
This brochure is intended to provide consumers and manufacturers with a quick reference for locating labeling and consumer information requirements contained in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and other regulations. There are several types of labeling and consumer information requirements conveyed within The Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Other Regulations--labels that warn consumers about potential risks and hazards if certain vehicle equipment is improperly used, labels that provide instructions for maintenance and installation of vehicle equipment and parts, and labels that fulfill certification and markings requirements. While this quick-reference eliminates the need to search the regulations to determine existing labeling and owner's manual requirements, users are reminded to refer to the Federal regulations for specific details since this document is intended only as a quick reference. This brochure is available upon request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Technical Reference Office and is posted on the Internet, NHTSA Web Site at www.nhtsa.dot.gov.
