V. Post-trip Inspection
- Finally, when the route is finished, conduct a post-trip inspection of the bus
- What should you look for as you walk through the school bus?
(Any problems with the bus; damage or vandalism; articles left on the bus; open windows and doors; sleeping students.)
- Let’s look at the post-trip inspection checklist at the end of Handout #3
- Look under the bus and walk around the bus, both inside and outside
- Check for problems with the bus
- Report any problems to maintenance
- Damage or vandalism
- Report any damage to your supervisor
- Articles left on the bus
- Collect them and turn them in
- Open windows and doors
- Close them
- Sleeping students
- Local procedures
- In winter, icy steps
- Spray with de-icer
- Make sure that your bus is ready to go for the next trip
- Mirrors are adjusted
- Wheelchair tie-downs are in order
- Secure the bus
