IOWA

Troopers from the Iowa State Patrol's Safety and Education Office teach the "Older and Wiser Driver" program and the "Senior Safe Driver" program throughout the state to older drivers. The program provides students with traffic safety information specifically for senior drivers. Often, the one-hour programs are augmented with the "Senior, Savvy and Safe" video.

In addition, the State Patrol presented a session titled, "Riding in Tandem: Law Enforcement and Older Iowans," at the 2003 Annual Iowa Governor's Conference on Aging in West Des Moines, Iowa. The session focused on perils of the highway and what older Iowans can do to become better and safer drivers.

The Iowa State Patrol provides public service announcements to local newspapers concerning safe driving and winter driving.
