Deputy Director, Governmental Affairs, Policy, and Strategic Planning: Esther Wagner

After more than 18 years in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Office of Research and Program Development and its predecessor organizations, Esther (Essie) Wagner is now the deputy director of the Office of Government Affairs, Policy, and Strategic Planning. Most recently, she was a special assistant and policy advisor on behavioral road safety issues. Previously, Wagner was a program analyst and a research psychologist working on older driver and pedestrian safety issues. 

Wagner has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Wooster and a master’s degree in human factors psychology from George Mason University.
