Rajeev Dolas

Chief Technology Officer

NHTSA Chief Technology Officer Rajeev Dolas provides leadership and oversight for the agency’s information technology systems and services that provide essential support for NHTSA’s mission to save lives and prevent injuries on our nation’s roads. These systems include the VIN lookup tool, which allows vehicle owners to learn about safety recalls for their vehicles and vehicle-related equipment; the Artemis database, which notifies NHTSA about consumers’ vehicle safety concerns; and the national driver register, which is used for licensing purposes by DMVs nationwide. Dolas leads the development, implementation, and security of these systems while also overseeing information resource management strategies, budgets, plans, standards and policies, enterprise architecture, information assurance, and records management.

Dolas joined NHTSA after more than 30 years of federal and private sector experience in information technology. Most recently, he served at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he oversaw IT strategies, governance, polices, software quality assurance, and cybersecurity. Prior to his service in the public sector, Dolas worked in IT services in the private sector and spent more than a decade as an independent consultant.

Dolas received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from BES College in India, and a master’s degree in computer and information sciences from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
