Dear Mr. Hogan: As you requested in your letter of December 30, 1975, I am forwardin to you a copy of the odometer disclosure regulation (49 CFR Part 580) promulgated pursuant to section 408 of the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act (Pub. L. 92-513).; The regulation does not require that disclosure documents be retained Thus, any individual who maintains a copy of an odometer disclosure statement, does so of his own accord. There is nothing in the odometer law or regulation that would prevent a person from making disclosure statements available to interested parties.
