Dear Mr. Penter: Pursuant to the requires in your February 13, 1980, letter to thi office, I am enclosing an up-to-date copy of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 117 (49 CFR S571.117).; You asked about the agency's 'current position with respect to Standar No. 117 as to (1) passenger tires and (2) truck tires.' The requirements of this standard apply to all retreaded pneumatic passenger car tires sold in the United States.
