Dear Mr. Dobson: This is in reply to your letter of December 7, 1972, to Mr. James S Gilky concerning Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, 'Flammability of Interior Materials,' and its possible application to infant restraint harnesses.; Standard No. 302 does not apply to aftermarket materials or components it applies only to those original components or materials of new vehicles specified in Paragraph S4.1 of the standard.
