Consumer Alert: Urgent Park Outside Warning Issued for 1 Million Jeeps
Affected Gladiator and Wrangler owners should keep vehicles outside until they are repaired
FCA US has issued a new recall for more than 1 million model year 2021-2025 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler vehicles due to a risk of fire, even when the vehicles are turned off. Owners should park their vehicles outside and away from other vehicles and buildings until their vehicle has been repaired.
The recall affects 1,076,999 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler vehicles, which may have an electrical connection issue in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. This could cause combustible materials to overheat and potentially catch fire.
This recall was influenced by an investigation NHTSA opened due to multiple reports of fires. NHTSA is aware of 51 fires and one injury that are likely due to this issue.
FCA will notify owners when a recall remedy is available, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 9.
Affected vehicle identification numbers and license plates will be searchable on NHTSA.gov for this recall starting on Thursday, June 11, and owners can also call NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236. NHTSA also encourages everyone to download its SaferCar app to stay informed on current recalls.
