Join NHTSA for a live event from Washington, DC, on April 1 at 11 a.m. ET as the agency kicks off a new campaign: Put the Phone Away or Pay. The distracted driving prevention event, which will be livestreamed, will focus on coordinated federal and state high-visibility enforcement efforts to combat handheld phone use and other forms of distracted driving. New 2022 and 2023 fatality and injury crash data will also be released.

NHTSA’s Put the Phone Away or Pay paid media campaign, which coincides with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, will begin on April 1 and run through April 8, 2024. The national enforcement mobilization period will begin on April 4.
