To provide the public with the opportunity to interact directly with agency officials and offer their comments face-to-face, NHTSA and EPA jointly held three public hearings in January 2012 on the agencies’ 2011 proposal to regulate fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions from model years 2017-2025 passenger cars and light trucks.
Comments provided at the public hearings are considered by the agencies in the same way and to the same extent as comments submitted in writing to the rulemaking dockets at https://www.regulations.gov.
An official transcript of each hearing is posted here to facilitate the public’s review of the rulemaking record, and is also available at Docket No. NHTSA-2010-0131 (which can be accessed at regulations.gov using that number).
