Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Communications

Vehicle-To-Vehicle Communications Learn more about V2V and how it could change road safety forever. Vehicle to Vehicle Communications

NHTSA, as the Federal agency with authority over motor vehicle safety, has been researching vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology for more than a decade, in partnership with others in the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), the automotive industry, and academic institutions. V2V communications allow vehicles to be continuously aware of each other. When one car brakes suddenly, for example, cars several yards behind the vehicle could get a safety warning before they get too close. This technology has the potential to save numerous lives on our roads every year.
